Curve Ball By Michele Smith
The next pitch for us is our curve. We snap it around, it almost spins like a top, and that's going to move -- for me, being left-handed -- it's gonna move in to a right-handed batter. For a right-handed pitcher, it's gonna move away from a right-handed batter.
I grip my curveball exactly like my rise, but I rotate the ball just a little bit so that I'm sliding my middle finger up on the smile -- we call this the smile of the ball -- so I'm rotating my finger up onto the smile. My ring finger is, again, on the bottom, and this time I'm gonna pull the ball across my body and I get it to spin like a top. And when it spins like a top, that actually makes it cut, or curve, into the zone -- into the batter."
